Our Club
Soroptimist of Watsonville, established in 1928, has a longstanding tradition of supporting scholarships to improve the lives of women and girls. Our diverse membership is committed to this mission and meets weekly for business and program meetings. Membership offers benefits such as enhanced friendships, support for professional growth and leadership development, and a unified sense of purpose in community service. To support our various programs and projects, the Watsonville Soroptimists organize several fundraising events, including the annual Fall Fantasy, the sale of the Club’s cookbook, the Annieglass Boutique and craft markets.

Soroptimist International
Soroptimist was formed in 1921 in Oakland, California, at a time when women were not permitted to join service organizations. Our name, loosely translated from the Latin, means best for women. Today, we have over 25,000 members and supporters in countries across North America, Latin America and the Pacific Rim. We are one of five federations that make up Soroptimist International, which has clubs in more than 120 countries throughout the world.
